President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has submitted a proposal to the parliament to appoint Ali Faiz as the ambassador of Maldives to Sri Lanka.
Faiz is currently the president of the police board.
The president's letter was read out in the parliament on Monday.
The matter for approval has been referred to the parliamentary standing committee on foreign affairs.
