Male driver in Hulhumale collision remains in custody

Police have confirmed that the female passenger in a car driven at high speed in Hulhumale on Saturday night has been released, while the male driver remains in custody.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 11 p.m. in Phase One and Phase Two of Hulhumale when officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver, identified as Aik Haisham Hassan, 18, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
A police officer was injured when the car struck a police motorcycle. The officer was discharged after treatment at Hulhumale Hospital and has been referred to specialist doctors for further care.
Police said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
