Drugs worth MVR 2m seized from postal parcel
According to the customs statement, they were seized during a search of a parcel brought to the Maldives via post on 20 November.

Maldives Customs revealed on Thursday that drugs with a street value of more MVR 2 million have been seized from a postal package.
Customs said in a statement that the seized contraband weighed 1.34 kg. Its street value is estimated to be MVR 2 million.
According to the statement, they were seized during a search of a parcel brought to the Maldives via post on 20 November. Two types of drugs were recovered from the parcel, customs sources said. They tested the drugs to be positive for:

Mephdrone - 304 grams

Heroin -1,034 grams
These items have been handed over to the police, the customs said.
Party drugs are usually imported into the Maldives through post. Heroin is usually smuggled into the country by sea.
Party drugs smuggled into the country through post were seized in November as well. This time, another bag of drugs has been found again.
