6 expats arrested over work permit extortion case
According to police, the arrests were made over a three-day period late last month.
Police said on Sunday that six foreign nationals were arrested last month on charges of extorting money from other foreigners by deceiving them into seeking work permits to work in the Maldives.

The six men, all from Bangladesh, are:

Mohamed Yusuf Prodhan, 30, arrested on 22 January
Police said Mohamed Emon Kazi was last produced before the court on Thursday, where he was remanded in custody for 10 days.
Afjal Hossain and Habibur Rahman were last produced before the court on Friday and were remanded in custody for 15 days.
Mohamed Hanif Bapari was produced before the court on 15 February and was remanded in custody for 15 days pending a decision on bail.
Kazi Raihan and Mohamed Yusuf Prodhan were last produced before the court on 12 February and were remanded in custody for 15 days.
Police said investigations into the case are continuing.
