Luhaim Mohamed Ismail, a Maldivian student who met with an accident last month while pursuing aviation studies in the Philippines, has been transferred to Thailand for further treatment.
On March 31, the accident took place when the bike in which Luhaim, 21, was riding collided with another motorcycle.
Luhaim, a resident of Fuvahmulah, is a student pilot at the Airworks Aviation Academy in the Philippines.
After the accident, some of Luhaim's family members went to the Philippines.
A family member of Luhaim, who is currently in the Maldives, told Atoll Times on Sunday that he is doing better than before.
"We have now shifted him to a Bangkok hospital for further treatment [for further surgeries]... he was admitted to the hospital on Saturday night," he said.
"His condition seems to be improving, but he hasnt gained consciousness yet."
According to him, both Luhaim's legs were fractured in the accident and he had also fractured a shoulder bone. While no further details were available, several other newspapers had earlier reported that Luhaim had sustained severe head injuries.
Luhaim underwent surgeries in the Philippines before being transferred to Bangkok for further treatment. The family said they shifted to a Bangkok hospital for further surgeries.
