There was a slight stir inside the MDP but now the MDP members have come out stronger together, President Ibrahim Mohammed Solih said on Monday.

The president is currently campaigning for the upcoming presidential elections in Baa atoll. On his visit to B. Thulhaadhoo on Monday, he said he had seen the effects of the party division in Thulhaadhoo as well.

The president said that the "garbage" within the party has now begun to clear out.

“Today I see that scene changing in this island,” he said.

"Once again, I see real MDP members coming out to win this election with the MDP”.

He said MDP will win the election by a large margin.

The president said he had only one agenda, which is the development agenda.

"The agenda of providing a happy life and a secure society for the people," he said, adding that such an agenda is being implemented now and will continue to be pursued in the future.

"When our entire programme is over, nothing will be left behind in any island”.

President Solih’s pledges for Thulhaadhoo:

  • Picnic Island

  • Youth indoor sports complex

  • An industrial area

  • Another 100 housing units

  • Major roads will be paved

  • Loans will be given to private individuals to develop aqua marine culture
