2 rainy days ahead; weather to clear after Wednesday

According to the official, the sea will be rough in all parts of the country during the two days as the winds will also be strong.

National meteorological service (MET) has forecast rain in different parts of Maldives on Monday and Tuesday. 

Maldives has been experiencing rains due to the southwest monsoon. In some areas, heavy rain continued for several hours. The highest rainfall was recorded in AA. Thoddoo, which received 54.5 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

A MET official told Atoll Times that the weather is expected to improve from Tuesday afternoon, but the rain will start to lighten only after Wednesday.

According to the official, the sea will be rough in all parts of the country during the two days as the winds will also be strong.

Monday's weather forecast:

  • White alert issued from Kaafu atoll to Faafu atoll for heaving rains

  • Thunderstorms with winds up to 40 mph are expected
