China offers grant aid to redevelop Maldives capital roads
The President said that once the roads are redeveloped, all the problems faced by the roads in the city will be solved.

A Chinese team has arrived in Maldives to discuss the redevelopment of all the roads in the city with the grant aid of the Chinese government.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu made the remarks at the opening of the campaign camp of Ahmed Zameer, the ruling coalition’s candidate for the Machangolhi Central constituency in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
"So once all the technical work is completed, the work will start practically," the President said.
The President said that once the roads are redeveloped, all the problems faced by the roads in the city will be solved.
The President had mentioned this project during his presidential address on the parliament’s inauguration, saying that the roads in the city will be improved this year with the assistance of China.
In addition, during his official visit to China in January, President Muizzu said that most of the USD 130 million China will provide to Maldives will be spent on the development of roads in the city.
Speaking at the rally on Monday evening, the President said that when he was the mayor of the city, he tried to build roads in the city but the then government blocked the work after withholding the budget allocated for it.
