Parliament on Wednesday accepted an emergency motion submitted by the opposition MDP seeking clarification on the increase in electricity bills in recent months.
An emergency motion was moved by Galolhu North MP Mohamed Ibrahim to clarify the electricity bills.
The matter was passed by 61 votes in favour.
In the case, Mohamed said:

STELCO has eased the bills after the public complained about the high electricity bills in April

The public has expressed concern that the bills sent since then are too high

Details of the corresponding increase in electricity bills are not available to the public; the detailed bills were also made as an "average" bill
STELCO has made it easier for the public to submit complaints via WhatsApp or Telegram.
