Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) intercepted a dinghy carrying three individuals of Somali origin approximately 10 miles northwest of Fuvahmulah on Monday.
According to the MNDF, the coast guard responded to reports and located a dinghy commonly associated with Somali use. The three individuals on board were transported to Fuvahmulah.
In a statement, the Maldives Police Service confirmed that the group of Somalis was brought to Fuvahmulah after being separated at sea.

Historically, individuals from Somalia have been reported in the region, with cases often linked to piracy activities. In earlier instances, Somali nationals have reached regional waters, and issues of identification and repatriation have posed challenges for authorities.
