Four persons, including Criminal Court chief judge Ahmed Shakeel, have filed their nominations for the High Court judge's post.
The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) opened the application process for one vacant post on the high court bench on 16 January. The deadline expired today and the commission has released the names of the applicants.
Apart from Shakeel, the other candidates are:

The total salary of a high court judge is MVR 54,300:

Basic salary – MVR 36,000
-
Living allowance - MVR 15,000
-
Risk allowance - MVR 3,300
Criminal Court chief judge Shakeel heard the case against opposition leader, former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. Yameen was found guilty in the case and sentenced to 11 years in prison last month.
