Maldives National University (MNU) lecturer Ali Hafeez is still in critical condition after being injured in an accident in Male on Wednesday morning.
Hafeez, who is a lecturer at Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS), was hit by a motorcycle on the street as he had exited a mosque after performing dawn prayer. Witnesses saw a lot of blood coming out of his mouth after he was hit by the speeding motorcycle.
The 50-year-old has been undergoing treatment at ADK since then.
Hafeez's condition is still very serious, ADK Hospital said on Thursday, but declined to provide further details.
According to sources, Hafeez sustained serious internal injuries in the accident.
The accident was caused by a 22-year-old man who did not have a license. He has not yet been arrested, police said.
Some witnesses said the young man fled the scene after the accident.
